6 Morning Rituals That Light Me Up

1.  Water

As soon as I wake up, I drink a large glass of water.  Don't get me wrong, my day also starts with coffee, but having water first thing makes me feel refreshed and energized. Bonus points for warm water with fresh lemon juice.  

2.  Meditation

There are days when I can only practice meditation for 3 minutes, but even in that short amount of time, I feel more peaceful and ready to take on my day.  

3.  Breakfast

I'm not a huge eater in the morning, so I typically make a green smoothie with spinach, frozen pineapple, almond milk, coconut water, sun butter, chia seeds, and lemon juice.  If I start my day off in a healthy way, the rest of my meals follow that pattern.  

4.  Snuggles

My husband is an early riser, but on the days he sleeps in a bit (6am is sleeping in for him) I take full advantage.  Even if it is 10 minutes.  Same with my cats....the only time they really love to snuggle is in the morning! 

5.  NOT Picking Up My Phone

This is by far the hardest to stick to.  When I start my day with emails or scrolling Facebook/Instagram I feel stressed and somewhat anxious the rest of the day. The days I can remember to leave my phone alone until I've been up at least 30/45 minutes are my best days. 

6.  Intention/Goal Setting

I try and do this the night before, but if not, I write down 3-5 things in my TO-DO LIST that will make me feel accomplished once they are crossed off.  Keeping my list small helps me with overwhelm.
